1. INTRODUCTION/PURPOSE
Discuss and consider action on Ordinance No. 328 calling a Special Election for May 6, 2017 for the reauthorization of the local sales and use tax for road maintenance.
2. DESCRIPTION/JUSTIFICATION
a) Background
In 2013, the City of Bee Cave held a Joint Special election with Travis County to reauthorize the local sales tax to provide revenue for maintenance and repair of municipal streets by one-eighth of one percent.
If the election is not held or the voters do not approve, the sales tax could be taken by Lake Travis ESD #6.
b) Issues and Analysis
Voters must reauthorize the sales tax every 4 years. The tax will expire on March 31, 2018. The City needs to hold a Special election in May or November of this year to ask the voters to approve the proposition.
