1. INTRODUCTION/PURPOSE
Consider approval of Resolution No. 2017-01 supporting bills filed with the Texas Legislature proposing to enact a statewide ban on distracted driving in an effort to save lives.
2. DESCRIPTION/JUSTIFICATION
a) Background
Rep. Tom Craddick has filed House Bill 62 in the Texas House and Sen. Judith Zaffirini filed Senate Bill 31 in the Senate. They are identical bills that propose to enact a statewide ban on distracted driving in an effort to save lives.
b) Issues and Analysis
Mr. Mike Myers lost his daughter to a distracted driving crash in 2015. He reached out to the City of Bee Cave asking the Council to pass a Resolution supporting HB62 and SB31.
