1. INTRODUCTION/PURPOSE
The purpose of this agenda item is for the City Council to discuss and consider action authorizing staff to request cost estimates for design of a roadway connection between Bee Cave Parkway and Highway 71 West.
2. DESCRIPTION/JUSTIFICATION
a) Background
In the spring of 2016, the City completed purchase acquisition of ~22 acres of property formerly owned by Mr. & Mrs. Tim & Brenda Skaggs and located between Bee Cave Parkway to the north and Highway 71 to the south. A map attachment to the transmittal generally identifies the property location.
Also attached is the Mobility & Thoroughfare Plan component of Our Bee Cave 2037 Comprehensive Plan. Note 2 on Figure 3.2 states, "...Proposed connections from Bee Cave Parkway to SH 71 near Ladera subject to future study."
b) Issues and Analysis
We placed this item on the agenda for Council to discuss and determine if perhaps it may be beneficial at this time to request cost estimates from our professional engineering firms for evaluation and design of a roadway connection in this location and in accordance with our Comprehensive Plan. If directed accordingly, staff would request cost estimates and return with a future agenda item for discussion and possible action regarding authorization to proceed with design.
