1. INTRODUCTION/PURPOSE
Discuss and consider action on Ordinance No. 369 calling the General Election for May 5, 2018.
2. DESCRIPTION/JUSTIFICATION
a) Background
The election in May will be to elect a Mayor and two Council Members with terms expiring in May of 2020. Mayor Murphy and Council Members Goodwin and Matzen have terms that expire in May of this year.
b) Issues and Analysis
The first day for filing an application for a place on the ballot is January 17, 2018 and the last day is February 16, 2018.
Candidate packets are available for pick up in the City Secretary’s office.
Travis County has asked that all entities who would like the County Clerk to conduct their election inform them of their intent. Soon after that date we will know the cost allocation for each entity.
If the City wishes to move forward with a joint election, a Joint Election Agreement with Travis County will be presented at a later date.
