1. INTRODUCTION/PURPOSE
The purpose of this agenda item is for the City Council to discuss and consider action regarding an appointment to Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization’s 2018 Regional Arterial Plan Steering Committee.
2. DESCRIPTION/JUSTIFICATION
a) Background
Shortly after Christmas, we were contacted by Ms. Debbie Townley on behalf of Ms. Kelly Porter, Regional Planning Manager for CAMPO regarding a new Regional Arterial Plan Steering Committee.
b) Issues and Analysis
The City Council wouldn't be convening until January 9th but we wanted to reserve a committee seat. We provided the City Manager as a primary point of contact for future correspondence. As the attached e-mail states, the role of a committee member includes:
- Attend and participate in 4 – 6 in-person steering committee meetings held through the duration of the 10-month planning process.
- Review draft deliverables and provide feedback to CAMPO staff on the planning process
- Assist and participate in public outreach activities including advertising meetings, assisting with identifying and securing venues, as well as attending and participating in open houses
- Inform your elected officials and other stakeholders about the planning process
- Provide input to the Technical Advisory Committee on the draft documents
Council could appoint a council member to serve; appoint the City Manager; appoint the Planning & Development Director or appoint another representative to the Regional Arterial Plan Steering Committee.
